It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batters to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her bow and seven international trophies have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," said Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was removed Australia needed 66 more at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as skipper.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
