19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

The win also indicates he has won 21 titles at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional victory, took control to force a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
