Homages Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt able to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the film, adding that he could not remember "a single day without mirth".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a separate essay, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to block the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.
A court order placed a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the killings, public personalities offered different comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing divisive remarks that were met with immediate backlash by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the critics recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disappointing" and remarked they demonstrated a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an associate should have intervened when the impulse to speak on the passing was made.
