The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of Dominance

Across the season, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka concluded the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a historic £11m in prize money.

She earned nearly 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a new level".

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking a extended hiatus after the birth of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five championship matches.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third time.
